Who we are
Federation of Women Lawyers Lesotho (FIDA) is non-profit, non-partisan and non-governmental membership organization established in 1988 by a group of women lawyers and was re-registered in 2006. The organization’s mission is a commitment to the protection of the promotion of Human-Rights. Especially the rights of women, children, minorities and vulnerable populations of Lesotho. FIDA Lesotho also holds the government of Lesotho responsible to its obligations towards the implementation of all laws, particularly those that affect women, children and the vulnerable in Lesotho
Overview
FIDA develops educational materials for the public to sensitize them to laws and policies. These materials serve also as awareness raising material making the public aware of their right and responsibilities. This takes place in the form of simplified booklets which explain the law in simplified terms.
Education is also given in communities through, trainings, workshops and community gatherings (Lipitso).
FIDA further provides bespoke training for key stake-holders such as members of the security, CSO’s, CBO’s, church and trade union and Ministry officials etc.
Overview
Through advocacy and awareness raising campaigns, FIDA uses different strategies to lobby for reforms in Policies and Laws that perpetuate the disenfranchisement of women and children’s right.
FIDA also uses ordinary and strategic litigation as an advocacy tools to raise awareness on human rights issues. Litigation is carried by lawyers who work in Legal Aid Clinic

Overview
FIDA engages in various empowerment activities to empower women and youth to participate fully in the economy, government and in the realization of their rights. These initiatives include, capacity building trainings, assisting people in start-up projects, providing net-working opportunities, exchange programs and legal advice amongst others.
